I work with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. I place importance on issues of diversity and difference as a central part of our human experience.
I have experience of working with the effects of abuse and trauma, whether the roots of this are in childhood or in adult life; shame and self-image issues; sexuality and sexual identity (I work in an affirming way with sexual minority clients); relationship difficulties at home or at work; eating disorders, self-harm and psychosomatic problems; depression and anxiety; personal development and the search for meaning.
I consult with an experienced senior practitioner to discuss my work and professsional development, and undertake regular training activities as a matter of course. I have also been a client in Counselling and Psychotherpay several times and seek support as part of my personal development.
I hold a Diploma in Integrative Supervision from Minster Centre, a Diploma in Psychological Counselling from Roehampton Institute and a Certificate in Counselling from Queen's University.
Over the past ten years I have continued to extend my training by attending seminars, courses and conferences. I am currently undertaking training in Somatic Trauma Therapy with Babette Rothschild and am beginning a training in Biodynamic Massage at the Chiron Centre for Body Psychotherapy.
I am an accredited member of the UKAHPP ( UK Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners), the BACP ( British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and am registered with the UKCP ( UK Council for Psychotherapy). I work within the ethical frameworks and professional standards set by these organisations.
I am also a member of AHPB, UKAPI and the Directory of Pink Therapists
I am happy to provide evidence of my qualifications and accreditations.
