How I Work

I focus on using my skills, training and experience to help each client find her/ his unique way forward.

I think of Counselling as an interactive process where we explore and find understanding together. This usually happens through conversation and by sharing thoughts and feelings in an open way. I take an holistic view of my work and pay attention to what my clients experience in their thoughts, feelings, body and environment. Sometimes it can be useful to use visualisations, writing, drawing or other exercises, but we would only do this if it feels comfortable and helpful to you. Each person is unique and each working relationship is different.

Together, we would try to find a deeper understanding of the things you are concerned about.

I think of my approach as Humanistic, Relational and Transpersonal.

This broadly means that I believe each of us has an innate drive to develop, grow and to seek trust, belonging, respect and fulfillment within ourselves and within our relationships and environment; that no one single theory about life can fully describe our unique experience; that we are growing and changing all of the time and that worries, problems and mis-takes are a normal part of this process; that we are most fulfilled when in accepting relationship with ourselves and with others; that each of us has a unique spirit and drive to fulfill our potential as human beings.
